Fuzzy Friend Friday ((Leslie))

Say HELLO to our Fuzzy Friend Friday pup...

This adorable pup belongs to a good family friend, Justin!

Name: Leslie

Age: 3 years old

Breed: Catahoula Mix

Favorite Toy: She doesn't play with toys often; she is very lazy! When she does play, her toy of choice would be a simple tennis ball.

Favorite Treat: She loves natural treats. Hooves, antlers, and tendons are her favorites. She loves treats she can gnaw on for awhile.

Tip: Be patient when you get a new dog. When we first got Leslie from the shelter at 7 months old, she was a nervous tinkler. When you talked baby talk to her or approached her, she would often stop and pee. She eventually grew out of it, but it definitely took some time. I would also recommend a Furminator! Leslie doesn't have long hair, but she does shed A LOT! I brush her a few times a day before she comes back in the house and it cuts down on the loose hair.

Leslie's brothers Ammo and Rocco were on the blog the past two weeks.

Thank you Justin for sharing Leslie with us!
Also, thank you for being apart of our blog the past few weeks!

Fuzzy Friend Friday ((Rocco))

Say HELLO to our Fuzzy Friend Friday pup...

This adorable pup belongs to a good family friend, Justin!

Name: Rocco

Age: 10 months old

Breed: Lancashire Heeler Mix

Favorite Toy: Anything his brother Ammo has! Ropes, stuff less toys, ChuckIt brand toys, and Kong. Rocco tries to destroy any toy he can get his mouth on, so the tougher the better!

Favorite Treat: He will eat anything! He is the first one to try something new when the BarkBox gets in. He likes anything meaty!

Tip: Train your dog early! Rocco was adopted by a family member of mine when he was 6 weeks old. He was born at the animal shelter I work at. They didn't train him much during the time they had him. When I got him at the age of six months, we had some work to do. Be patient while training your dog. Potty training can be difficult and crate training can be worse, but it is worth the effort. Always have plenty of toys! There are dog toys in baskets all around the house. The more toys and stimulation your dog has, the less tempted they will be to tear stuff up when you aren't around. I signed my dogs up for the BarkBox so each month they get new toys, treats, and products to sample. They get excited when it comes in!

Rocco's brother Ammo was on the blog last week.

Fuzzy Friend Friday ((Ammo))

Say HELLO to our Fuzzy Friend Friday pup...

This adorable pup belongs to a good family friend, Justin!

Name: Ammo

Age: 2 years old

Breed: Blue Heeler

Favorite Toy: Anything ChuckIt (Kick Fetch in particular), knotted ropes, stuff less toys.

Favorite Treat: He loves crunchy things! RedBarn, Chew-A-Bulls, Greenies, Nylabone Healthy Edibles. He likes to work for his treats.

Tip: Be sure to spend quality time with your pet! Take them for walks, have playtime, and take them on family outings. Make sure you set aside time for your pets as a group and each pet individually. I have eight dogs total, so this can be hard, but it is possible. Be patient! Training a new pet can be difficult and frustrating at times, but the end result is worth it. Love them! I work for a no-kill animal shelter and can't tell you how many people I see that could care less about their pet. To them they are just yard decorations. Love them and treat them as part of your family. Be there for them! I also see people that love their pet in the early years, but don't care for their pet anymore as they age. Having a pet is a lifelong commitment. Love them and be there for them until the end.

Thank you Justin for sharing Ammo with us!
Check the blog the next two weeks to meet more of Justin's pups: Leslie and Rocco

Fuzzy Friend Friday ((Beau))

Say HELLO to our Fuzzy Friend Friday pup...

This adorable pup belongs to a good family friend, Kellie (The Rhodes Family)!

Name: Beau

Breed: White Boxer

Favorite Toy: Anything he can tear up works for him!
He can open any package left on the front porch so we have a sign that states he is a Houdini and can open anything!
He loves chasing rabbits, squirrels, and skunks all night!

Tip: White boxers are often thought to be deaf and dumb. This is absolutely not true and because of their coloring they are often killed at birth. Beau is a full-blooded boxer who has two white boxer parents. None of them are deaf (except if you consider the fact that he is a male and he has selective hearing like most of the gender :) haha) and he is most definitely not dumb. Highly intelligent! I have also been told that boxers should have a companion dog. Also, since he is an outside dog and he is white, during the summer months he gets black freckles that show through his white coat and he begins to look like a dalmatian, except for his face!

Thank you Kellie for sharing Beau with us!

If You Are Cold, Your Pets Are Cold

A helpful reminder to all pet owners:
Remember to bring your pets inside from the cold, winter weather.
If you don't like your pets being inside your home, then have some type of shelter outside (shed, barn, or dog house) that your pets can stay in to get out of the rain, snow, ice, and dropping temperatures.

Click the link below for more helpful ways to protect your pet during the winter season and cold weather:

If you are cold, your pets are cold!

If you're cold, so are your dogs. They are family, and should be treated as such. Bring them INSIDE!

Fuzzy Friend Friday ((Milo))

Say HELLO to our Fuzzy Friend Friday pup...

This adorable pup belongs to my good friend, Jayne!

Name: Milo

Age: 1 and 1/2 years old

Breed: Golden Retriever

Favorite Toy: Socks!

Favorite Treat: Ice Cubes or Bananas

Tip: I recommend a head halter for leash training! Milo was horrible at being able to "heel." I sadly tried a choke collar a few times and I, as well as he, absolutely hated it. The head halter is a pain free, simple way to get your dog to heel. :)

He loves his brother Charlie too!
(Check out Charlie's Fuzzy Friend Friday post here)

Molson and Jackson LOVE hanging out with Milo and Charlie!
Well... maybe Molson doesn't. Haha

Thank you Jayne for sharing Milo with us!

I completely agree with Jayne regarding the head halter. Our lab, Jackson, was so bad at pulling whenever we would go on walks. We first tried a body halter, but it didn't help. Then Jayne told us about the head halter and it has helped soooo much. Jackson hated it at first because when I would pull on the leash it would pull his face toward me. He eventually got use to it! Haha He walks and runs so much better now!
