Fuzzy Friend Friday ((Abby))

Say HELLO to our Fuzzy Friend Friday pup...

This adorable pup belongs to family in New York & was sent in by my cousin, Kevin!

Kevin sent me an amazing write-up on Abby and I just had to share it with y'all!

Abby came to us 8 years ago as a smallish mutt cut from the mean streets of homelessness, then hardened in the kennels of Lollypop Farm. This popular branch of the Humane Society of Great Rochester did a good job fashioning her into a quiet and sensitive young lady, instantly appealing to our family. Convincing us to bust her out of that joint was merely the first phase in her escape plan.

However, as Abby took her time to mastermind a reclusive rampage on her new digs, something happened. We petted her. We showered her with cookies. We chucked tennis balls across the yard for her to chase. Was Abby going soft? Never. Just falling in love.

Abandonment; a concept Abby was all to familiar with, being a pound puppy and all. But the new family with the cozy house and the abundance of tennis balls was one to be treasured, to be protected. When this thought finally dawned on her, Abby decided she would make the effort to listen to the ultimate command.

And this time when she heard it, she could hear the subtle ring of hope, a tone to the voice of a family that truly loved having her around.

"Stay."

Nowadays, Abby is a biggish mutt and can be found mainly in one place. Your face. If you're reading this, chances are Abby doesn't know you and will not hesitate to rip your arm off if you so much as shake hands the wrong way with anyone in the family she loves. Petsmart's obedience classes mellowed her out a bit, but she still charges the front door at full snarl whenever the bell rings. She'll warm up to you. We promise.

Abby surely has the tendency to scare guests. Why wouldn't we want her to bark when someone walks in unannounced, though? We absolutely feel safer with her around. My advice would be to let your dog be a dog, but spend as much time with them as you can so they learn to be the well-trained and affectionate family member we all know they can be.

Thank you Kevin for sharing Abby with us!

Remember to email me your pup's information and maybe your dog will be highlighted on the next Fuzzy Friend Friday! Click the link here for Fuzzy Friend Friday details!
